Manchester City are reportedly preparing a late move for Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez, potentially making it the biggest Premier League transfer of the summer. Reports indicate that Manchester City are ready to meet Chelsea‘s asking price for the Argentina midfielder.

Chelsea are said to be seeking £120m for the 25-year-old player. This potential transfer comes as Chelsea are also reportedly preparing to approach Bournemouth for Alex Scott.

Other Premier League Transfer Developments

In other transfer news, Aston Villa have shown a willingness to offer Chelsea a £65m package for striker Nicolas Jackson. The future of Ollie Watkins at Aston Villa is uncertain, with reports suggesting he could earn an annual salary of £12m if Al Hilal finalises a deal in the last week of the summer transfer window.

Aston Villa also made an offer for Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta, but this offer was reportedly significantly below Crystal Palace‘s valuation of the player. Additionally, Aston Villa has contacted Belgian club Club Brugge regarding a possible signing of 22-year-old Ecuador centre-back Joel Ordonez.

Tottenham Hotspur are nearing a total summer spending of £400m, with the potential signing of Omar Marmoush from Manchester City. Meanwhile, Newcastle has launched a £35m bid for Lille winger Matias Fernandez-Pardo.

Newcastle United has also appointed former defender Paul Dummett to its revamped loans department, which is expected to play a key role in the club’s “Newcastle 2.0 project.”

Further League Activity

Brentford are reportedly close to securing a deal for West Ham left-back El Hadji Malick Diouf. Brentford is also preparing an improved £37m bid for West Ham United‘s 21-year-old Senegal defender El Hadji Malick Diouf.

Liverpool and Brighton were expected to hold further discussions regarding 22-year-old Gambia winger Yankuba Minteh, as Liverpool considers making a third bid. Barcelona and Spain left-back Alejandro Balde, 22, has reportedly given his agent, Jorge Mendes, approval to negotiate a move to Manchester United.

Manchester United will not sell 25-year-old Netherlands forward Joshua Zirkzee for less than £40m, despite interest from Juventus, Napoli, and Aston Villa. Juventus head coach Luciano Spalletti has stated that 21-year-old Turkey forward Kenan Yildiz will not be sold to Arsenal.

Barcelona is downplaying reports linking them with a move for 24-year-old Sporting‘s Portugal centre-back Goncalo Inacio. Sporting head coach Rui Borges did not rule out a move for Inacio to either Barcelona or AC Milan after the player was not in the starting line-up for their victory over Alverca on Saturday.

RB Leipzig has reached a verbal agreement with AC Milan to re-sign 28-year-old France forward Christopher Nkunku on a season-long loan, which includes an option to buy. West Ham skipper Jarrod Bowen, 29, is a £50m target for Crystal Palace, despite his commitment to remain with the Hammers after relegation.

Preston is considering a loan offer for 24-year-old Southampton striker Cameron Archer, who has not played in the Saints’ first two matches. Derby is interested in a loan move for 27-year-old West Brom and Republic of Ireland winger Mikey Johnston, and 25-year-old Ipswich and Albania attacking midfielder Anis Mehmeti.

Scottish Football Updates

In Scottish football, PAOK is set to compete with Celtic for Ermin Mahmic. Aberdeen is unlikely to pursue their interest in Killian Phillips during this transfer window, unless St Mirren significantly reduces their £500,000 asking price.

These transfer discussions and potential moves are unfolding as of Tuesday, 25 August 2026.
